04 - Taste the beverage and adjust sweetness by adding more sugar or agave syrup if desired.
05 - Pour into glasses and garnish with lime slices and additional mint leaves if preferred. Serve chilled.

# Expert Advice:

01 -
  • It cools you down faster than anything pulled from the fridge, almost like drinking a breeze.
  • You can make it in the time it takes someone to complain about the heat.
  • The mint doesn't just flavor the water, it changes the whole mood of the drink.
  • It tastes expensive but costs nearly nothing if you grow your own mint.
02 -
  • If you skip the straining step, you'll end up chewing your drink, and nobody wants that.
  • Old mint tastes like wet grass—use fresh leaves or don't bother making it at all.
  • Sugar dissolves better in liquid that's moving, so blend it in rather than stirring it afterward.
03 -
  • Freeze lime slices and mint leaves into your ice cubes so they don't dilute the drink as they melt.
  • Use a citrus juicer if you have one—it gets more juice with less effort and no seeds in the mix.
  • If the mint flavor is too strong for you, cut it with a handful of basil for something softer and a little surprising.
